Safer Internet Day: DOCU/CLUB Film Clubs Discussed the Risks of the Digital Environment

To mark Safer Internet Day, film clubs from the DOCU/CLUB network of the NGO Docudays organized educational film screenings and discussions dedicated to the safety of children and teenagers in the online environment.

The initiative brought together DOCU/CLUB film clubs from the Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Zakarpattia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions of Ukraine.

Participants watched and discussed the following documentary films:

  • “Pranked” (directed by Ismaël Joffroy Chandoutis) — exploring the risks associated with online game streaming;
  • “Erasing David” (directed by David Bond) — focusing on digital rights and privacy;
  • “Caught in the Net” (directed by Vít Klusák and Barbora Chalupová) — examining online sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

Following the screenings, experts facilitated discussions on online fraud, disinformation, online predators, the risks associated with artificial intelligence, and strategies for staying safe in the digital world.

The “film + discussion” format enabled participants not only to learn about online threats but also to work together with moderators and experts to identify practical steps for improving digital safety.
